A new collaborative center aims to bring together government, academia and industry to study the corridor from Lake Huron to Lake Erie, with an emphasis on Lake St. Clair and its watershed.

The Huron to Erie Alliance for Research and Teaching center will facilitate research to improve the health of these ecosystems and the quality of life for people who use and depend them.

The new center was recently awarded a National Science Foundation grant to improve field facilities and laboratories. New facilities will provide space for both education and research and mobile platforms will bring these resources to local communities to improve outreach. Once completed, the center will be a nexus of educational and scientific workshops, seminars, exchanges and research.
