It’s Earth Day!
On this global day of appreciation for our planet and all the things that it gives us, we thought it’d be nice to put together a short round-up of the activities taking place to celebrate.
A lot of universities are setting up booths and vendors on their campuses that are providing a fun way to enjoy Earth Day. At the same time, many others are encouraging students to go out and volunteer, or to celebrate the day with some other type of service-based activity.
Some examples include a recycled art competition that’s taking place at University of Michigan – Flint. Chipping in on recycling efforts are others at the University of Wyoming, who are planning a glass recycling drive as well as a rummage sweep.
At University of Oregon, the thinking is much the same, as a day of service is planned so that students can plant trees, clean up landscaping and pick up trash in neighborhoods around the university. Students at Penn State University are also getting their hands dirty by planting some 200 trees in the Rothrock State Forest.
At the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, celebrations have already been going on the whole last week, marked by research symposia and volunteering activities taking place throughout its surrounding area.
However you choose to celebrate, Happy Earth Day from everyone at Fondriest Environmental!
