Researchers receive NSF funding for cloud computing technology

A research team at the University of Miami has developed a cloud computing technology to predict storm strength and surge from tropical storms and hurricanes. The system is a pipeline that runs many different simulations on a cloud, creating data sets that are understandable by more people than previously available. The University of Miami researchers received a grant from the National Science Foundation to produce the technology in collaboration with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.
